Ever known anyone in this situation? Maybe even some personal experience?

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...r/21/unregistered-americans-sovereign-citizen

There was a time before the Patriot Act that a child could climb out of the virtual hole wherein there are no 'official' documents that they exist. Especially if at least one of the birth parents cooperated in helping. Now it is practically impossible.

It's one thing if the parents have made this decision for themselves. But when a child reaches adulthood and wants a different life they have been hamstrung.

YouTube is full of sovereign citizen videos (a few here in Washington) and none of them are successful. I have a friend who's a District judge and he says when normal case load gets too stressed, local judges vie for those cases, just for comedic relief. And they began assessing court costs that are commiserate with the wasted time spent on said idiots.

That’s a heavy situation, and it gets messy fast once identity and law collide like that especially for someone who didn’t choose it growing up
Many parents make choices for their kids without thinking objectively. They make emotional decisions without thinking of future consequences! Refusing childhood vaccinations is an example (HPV vaccinations were not available when I was a child). Last year I had an HPV growth in my throat and had to have surgery to have it removed. Now, we are in the middle of a measles epidemic. Same with whooping cough.

That's rough. Wishing you quick recovery.
And yeah I agree with you on the part of parent making the right calls for their kids

Thought to mention that my X wouldn't do SSN, birth cert, vax or anything equivalent. But she wasn't the sovereign citizen type. Me? I paid the taxes. I got to fix the mess with the kids. And pay child support.

The next time around I married a combat wounded Army Vet and career GS. No more jacking around. Dress right dress 24/7/365. Life couldn't be more consistent and predictable. An Irish-Hungarian which is like a lifetime of vinegar and soda. My job is to not mix and shake.

I'm a happy man.

That’s a huge shift, you went through chaos and now you’ve got structure, accountability and a partner who’s squared away.

And good meals.

Seriously, the folks who do sovereign stuff, a whole life of looking over you shoulder for the next disaster. It is principle but at what cost?

It is good to keep your head low and plug along. Play the game and enjoy some peace. As it degrades.

Resist what you feel is wrong and pick your battles! Sometimes we must stand strong!

Remember the 1916 Easter Rising! Failed but lit the spark!

Bear,
Nice info. I’ll tuck that away in my back pocket for when we finally meet !

I will admit that I was tempted to say that “you’re starting to sound like my wife” ! She’s been correcting my language since we got married ! But I refrained from it….kinda….. ✌️😁

Pssst….Don't give Bear too much grief. He was only a small tike eating potatoes then. Remember to always respect your elders. You never know……an Ancestory test might reveal you’re related !
He would have to be from a different family lineage- I think he's too old and decrepit.

But he may be a brother from a different mother. He might not like me but I'd care for him.

I married an English major and ex-teacher!!!! I had to re-learn English to write science papers and re-learn again when I retired!

As a Freemason I believe that all men who worship a single Almighty are brothers! "There is only one God but he has many names".

This is another thread: how did your wife correct your act? I'll start:

I remarried. She is an endangered species biologist focused on fish. But she did EVERYTHING else as well because, dang, she's a biologist. We are on this life long curve of changes. Nothing is the same. Biology kind of changes but....

I'm a darn engineer. I deal with static things. The wife educates me on changing things. These are some tough conversations and she always wins for various reasons. Together we make a team. And dangerous if I can say so.

I am a case study. I am sure of this. There will be a peer reviewed paper on this in time.

I would like input on the peers though.
Want me to write it? Maybe your wife and I can co-author, using you and "She Who Must Be Obeyed" as subjects! 🧑‍🎓 🤣🤣
