Water gets ignored until it’s suddenly a huge problem. But most folks don't realize that clean containers, rotation and a simple filter solve most issues..You can skip meals for a bit but running out of water goes bad fast.

Filters are nice for in the field. Around the house: A gallon of bleach. I have some Iodine tablets: used them while in Belize & Guatemala.

We have our own private well so the water supply is pretty much unlimited. Added a small generator so we’re set for power outages. Also keep 10+ gallons of fuel on hand mainly for the riding mower and other tools like chainsaws and the like.

We also have a generator (gasoline///propane duel fuel) to run the fridges, etc. 1 burner and 2 burner propane stoves; battery & gas lanterns,

Yes, the fridge is on a transfer circuit as well as some other essentials.
The wood stove heats the house just fine and we have years of firewood from all the fallen trees. It doubles as a stovetop if we need it, however our propane cooktop allows us to use a match to light the burners if the powers out.

We are off grid because there are no utilities available including cell service from anyone. We have a water well and the water is sweet. My gosh, I hope in this group of folks that our household isn't the only one....

On a private well here also. Water has a little iron content (soil here has a lot of clay in it) but the whole house filtration system takes care of that. Love not having a monthly water bill and no added chemicals. Small generator keeps things going in case the power is out.

If everything fails I’ll just go down to the large creek running through our property and boil it before use.
