Trigger control is harder than it looks

Everyone says smooth press. I'm still jerking it sometimes. I have been shooting for years and still working on this basic thing. Does trigger control ever become totally natural?

Mostly shooting me SAA’s I didn’t have to worry too much about the pull.

With revolvers like my 66-3 3”-K-frame-round butt I used to practice pulling the trigger (rather firmly) back so the cylinder rotated & locked and it was just to the point of firing. Then finish when the sight picture was right. Basically like a modified single action without cocking the hammer back.
With practice I got to where I could quickly “pull to rotate, release and repeat” through all the cylinders without firing a shot. Every pull was about 1/2 a pound short of dropping the hammer.
It became second nature to draw, pull and sight. I was far more accurate than pulling all the way through in one slow pull. (Make sense?). Raise, rotate, aim, fire.

My trigger control is getting better, but I still practice without ammo every week. Pressing the trigger smoothly sounds easy, but it's hard when you're nervous

Even now, if I am hurrying, I will still catch myself yanking it a bit. You definitely get better at it but I do not think it ever just becomes totally automatic. Mostly, you just get quicker at noticing what you are doing and then correcting it.
