I need some help here. My Sig P320 has been jamming like crazy lately, maybe every 5th round or so. I already tried different mags and ammo brands, cleaned it twice this week..but could it be the extractor going bad? This thing was rock solid for two years and now it's driving me nuts

A pistol can run like a champ for years, then suddenly starts acting up. You already ruled out mags and ammo, so that narrows things down. Yes, a worn extractor could cause failures to eject or stovepipes, especially if it's lost tension. Before swapping it, check the extractor spring too, sometimes that's the weak link...you can also take a close look at your recoil spring, if it's got a lot of rounds through it, it may be time to replace.

One more thing, make sure the chamber and feed ramp are spotless, even a little carbon or gunk can start trouble, especially if you're shooting different loads back to back.If it keeps acting up after those checks, I'd call Sig and see if they'll send an extractor kit or at least walk you through the next step. Their customer service has been good in my experience.

Thanks, good tips. I'll inspect the extractor and spring, swap the recoil spring, deep-clean the chamber and feed ramp, then call SIG if problems persist

I had problems with certain mags on my Sig P320 Compact. If the OAL of the round is too long, the tip of the bullet can friction lock against the inside of the front wall of the mag. The Checkmate mags seem to be worse than the MecGar mags for this. The Checkmates came with black followers, the MecGar have Zred followers and are less prone to this.

If this is happening clean the insides of the mag tubes, and install a + 5% or +10% stronger spring. I did that and the problem cleared right up.

If you have a few thousand rounds through it, it’s time to replace the recoil spring assembly. These and the trigger return spring have reportedly failed after a little over 2K rounds. Get aftermarket ones. The Sig spring’s metals are cruddy, made in India parts. Same goes with any of the pistol’s springs.

This problem is also common with the P365’s as well.
