I like the CRKT Avant. While teaching a Jungle Ecology Course in the jungle in Belize & Guatemala, I carried a CRKT M-16 for cutting rope, etc.

I have a couple of the M-16s in the cars in my off-road kits and carry one for working in the garden.

All my EDC knifes are $120 and higher, I buy only knifes with premium steel. I have enclosed a couple pictures of my main go to EDC's.

This knife is made by Kershaw with CPM MagnaCut steel, it's a very smooth flipper. I have been carrying it for 8 mo's now and no stone put to yet.

I really like my SOG Pentagon XR. I've had this one for about 10 years now, and it was a replacement for a similar SOG knife which was stolen in a gym locker break-in.

The blade finish has held up extremely well, holds an edge for a long time, and is very easy to operate. Plus it sits very low in a pocket due to the clip placement and design. Expensive, but highly recommended (if SOG still makes them).

Sorry the picture is upside down...

I'm really common. I do well with a leatherman Wingman. Not the best blade but it sharpens OK. But the few tools this has covers MANY things I have to do. The pliers/needlenose is arguably used as often as the blade of not more. The teeth on those pliers don't do dull.

Hold on a sec I have to put on my flame proof huggies.

I would rather carry a $40 Amazon 1095 blade than any of the ones listed above.
Stainless of any grade is less than a high carbon blade.
My EDC work knife is exactly that. I run the rod over it at the end of every week.

Now my carry weapon is a stainless blade.
It is a serrated Cold Steel Scimitar knifer fighters knife.
Only made in 2010, they did coast $180.
It shreds meat.

They made edged blades also, I would never buy one because they are stainless.

Not sure of what you are saying here, but if a blade has to high of carbon, it actually can make it more brittle. Where as there are lots of super steels out there that are stainless and have low carbon content. They well actually have a higher HRC reading than the carbon steels.

I was a Steel Melter for 6 yrs, working on 10,000 lb furnace's and we had to keep the carbon content low on the alloy steels.

Darn sure I said 1055 to 1095, but only put 1095, sorry.
In my experience stainless tends to be on the brittle side.
Ive seen a lot of those folders with broken tips.

You are correct in saying that they can be brittle, but then again, don't use the "tips" for prying! The higher the HRC - the longer they can retain a sharp edge (usually}.

One knife that I use for my EDC has a blade made of MagnaCut. Check out the following link - MagnaCut

I had a Gerber Mk II once. The tip broke on a rib bone. Never to own a Gerber anything again.
Gerber did replace the knife, and I sold it. Still do not know what steel it had.
It was a stab, not a pry.

I would have considered magacut, I saw everything about it.
Like Hey Haw said "and then it was gone"
