Since this is a forum is WA specific by name, this is an excellent place for this question:

Do you have any doubts or concerns about voting by mail in WA State?

I'll start. I moved to rural WA from Nebraska in 2006. I changed to a WA driver's license immediately and also registered to vote here. I was and still am very pleased with the voting pamphlet and the mailed ballots and for the ease at returning the ballot and it going back to the county offices. I don't have any concern that the votes are tabulated or counted in any risky manner. I'm all in for our mail in voting.

I did the same in 2002. My job (Wildlife Biologist with US Fish and Wildlife) often required my presence either at meetings around the state or even out of state. Mail-in voting enabled me to still vote.

From the widely respected Brookings Institute: "Cases of mail voting fraud are very rare, accounting for only 0.000043% of total mail ballots cast, or about four cases out of every 10 million mail votes."

It also has enabled me to voice my opinion by voting on many small loacl elections!

I have no qualms about voting by mail.

To me, all the hubbub is just lies and disinformation. A distraction.

It’s a push for “nationalized” voting. AKA…the government is in charge of “free” elections; a very dangerous road to choose. Those in power want to stay in power and would then have the ability to choose what ballots they thought were fraudulent. Which ones so you think they’re gonna choose?

As Bear stated, the actual fraudulent attempts are very rare. I’ll add that 99% of those are caught and not counted.

Keep our elections free of government interference. Only those who fear the outcome of free elections ever mention a nationalized election process.

My wife and I have voted in WA since 1968, almost the entirely of our voting life. As I recall, the move to mail-in voting was gradual: we voted at precincts for some years and then because of my job, we began mail-in. Within a few elections, mail-in was encouraged... the official hope was that mail-in would encourage more voting, particularly during off-year elections.
Now, I'm not sure there are any precincts open (Clark County); certainly it's been years since we've been to one.

And yes, it's safe. Let's face it: Trump has never accepted his 2020 election loss and because he now feels he can, he's determined to nationalize the election process. This despite Article One in the US constitution that give the states the responsibility for overseeing federal elections.

Same here Mike. Lots of drop boxes around the area.

We used to drop it in the mail box, but because our mail box is up at street level and mail theft was fairly common we’ve been using the drop boxes for the past 6-7 years.

The only issue I had was with the Proud Boys who (a few years ago) decided to “monitor” the drop boxes from close proximity. They made no attempt to hide the fact they were carrying. They also had people watching the cars lined up to drop off their ballots. Intimidation at the very least. IMHO They should have been arrested.

This was in the City of Battleground. Not sure how it was in Ridgefield proper. Both cities are ‘home bases’.

Washington gas prices and groceries are way higher than the national average. Has been for years... The jump is the cost of putting an end to a terrorist state. They're already starting to come down. Ever been to Idaho and seen the price of fuel without all the climate change taxes/fines added on? Have you ever looked into where that extra money on fuel per gallon goes? When the wife and I both redid our Drivers Licenses for the Enhanced whooptydo we had to bring our 3 pieces of identity - even though we were long time WA residents. I was happy to do so. I AM a citizen with all the rights and privileges. My wife is a combat disabled veteran ex drill sgt and no darn DOL person is gonna challenge her citizenship. I can tell you this is true.

But we were qualified to vote at the same time. So What? The ballots are mailed to our USPS PO Box because we don't have a physical address. Do we have to prove it further? If we don't get a ballot or pamphlet there is gonna be hell to pay at the courthouse.

To this day I have to go to the courthouse to license vehicles and trailers because the WADOL will not recognize our address assigned by the county courthouse. How much more anal does the DOL have to be? But someone can vote as a non-citizen? And I have to go to the courthouse to license my rigs and show ID and proof of some kind of address even though they spit out the property tax billing to the same address with the legal description every year?

I get so angry I could scream in the forest. But then I count my blessings.

Our Sheriff is one of those crazy Constitutional guys. We have a citizen Posse in excellent standing. Some+ carry. There has never been a mishap from citizen volunteers.

Yall look at your own county government and ask if there is a problem with illegal voters. Not here in Klickitat. Neighbors are of value wherever they came from even if they have a problem with English. But they don't vote unless they do it legally - even by mail.

I thought deeply about this stuff this morning as the most recent posts came. Oh, yeah: Joe Walsh, LedZep, Pink Floyd....

My Gosh was I a jerk and wasted a bunch of time. Even in my 'responsible' years I frittered away efforts even though I had a successful business. I was an elector at the convention on New Orleans. I tried to to get Howard Phillips on the ballot - my gosh that guy was brilliant. But he was not photogenic. I knew him as a friend and mentor. He could have restored much.

It wasn't until I began raising trees that I kind of started to understand some things. And that was after I gave up ranching. Trees taught me a lot and still do. I'm a tree hugger - I carry a bunch to the wood burner every winter as our only heat. At the same time they hold the soil and keep things going year after year. They shelter the wildlife that can be a PITB and that feeds us.

I vote. You darn betcha I vote. I vote because if I don't a bunch of folks who think they value trees, animals, fish and other things might override me. Heck, they think their food comes from the grocery store.

I'm not doing much today because it is too windy to throw rocks. So I'm thinking of some old music and wishing/hoping likeminded people would not worry about a mail in ballots. If they even bothered to vote.

I check on my vote every election on my Grant Co election site. My vote counts every time... My problem is the corrupt Westside in and around King Co and Spokane Co that ballot harvests, shows up 2 days after the election with boxes of ballots with just enough to win without a recount(Rossi v Gregoire to name one) that cancel all us good people. A DOL that gives drivers license and registers undocumented illegals to be able to vote in my once awesome State of Washington, there is enough smoke to know there's a fire.
