I'm interested in hearing what gun oils have really impressed you. Whether it's for bolt action rifles or handguns, everyone's got a personal favorite. What do you find gives you the best protection and performance?

The only one that I have used for the last 40 yrs has been "FP-10". It is now being marketed under "Shooters Choice". But now I am sure there are some really good synthetic oils on market.

Lucas Gun Oil...It's High Temp.. Found it at O'REILLY'S buying car parts. So far, very good!! I like the built in metal tube applicator

Been using 3 in 1 oil in the red can for over 70 years in all of my guns plus my Singer Sewing machine. Never had any rust or jamb ups in any of them. I do use CLP or something similar to clean the barrel out.

Was an armory way back in the 70s. I used now what I used then.
LSA medium for oil, Lubraplate grease for the slide groves.

Cool part is that its white, and you can see partials in it. We stopped a Ma duce from being fired because of the metal shavings in the grease.
I used it in the jungle, sandbox, and forests.
Dont have an M60 any more, just an M1 that has out lived its operator.

I would NEVER use anything other than synthetic oil and grease on my guns! I heard Mobile1 for guns is coming out real soon now. And when I drain it, I use it for bar and chain oil in my saw.

Sorry folks, I couldn't help not posting the above. :ROFLMAO:

I discovered Ballistol https://ballistol.com some years ago. It's great for lubrication as well as storing firearms. Nice thing about it is that it doesn't soak/soften into wood as do most oils and can actually enhance wood finishes. I can blithely coat the metal portions of my guns.and continue over the stocks/grips.

It also can be used on leather, and according to the specifications required by Germany's Kaiser in 1904, when it was adopted by the German army, is useful as a.first aid "wound oil for minor injuries, lacerations and bruises."

Honestly, I haven't tried it for first aid, but it is a remarkable substance for many other uses. A small can is in my chain saw kit and another in my boat.

I made a joke. Not so funny, apparently. Why is gun oil even a topic? Even WD-40 works if you use it correctly.

@VancMike made a good point: use an oil that makes the stock and other things pretty too.
