I’ve seen a wide range of zeroing methods across the community, and it’s always interesting how each shooter develops their own routine. To help newer members learn and compare techniques, I’d like to hear how each of you approaches zeroing?

I have a 25 yard target taped to my garage door. It has been there for over 25 years.
I back up 25 yards, set up a 6ft step ladder, set a pillow on the step and lay the rifle on top of it.
I bore sight the barrel, then move the scope to match the bore.

Then out to the range for a 200 yard zero.

I do the same as the Renton Indian mention, except I don't use a 6' ladder. The method has worked just fine for me overs the years. I Have gotten good results after all these years, meaning, generally not more than 3 shots to get it zeroed at 100.

The other easier method would be to use a laser bore sighter, which I have used and works good also.

I begin by zeroing at 100 yards. After that, I adjust for wind and bullet drop at longer distances
I used to zero my main hinting rifle (300 Win Mag) @ 2.75" high at 100 yards. Took deer, elk, & wild pigs at 400+ yards consistently. One deer at 500. Had the Norma ballistic table for my 180 gr partitions taped to my stock. Same with my wife's 7x57mm (170 gr partitions). Her only big game "kill" was a 265 lb wild sow, running at 275 yards (Measured & weighed). Mot of those ranges were measured by pacing or on a topo map. Shot at least 3 boxes each season and, if possible, checked zero at my destination. The 300 was my "go to rifle" for everything from ground squirrels to several trophy bulls.. Also used the 300 while guiding P/T in grad school.

I also use the 6'ladder and target on back den wall. Except I have a laser adapter that fits in the end of the barrel. Couple of seconds to line up the scope to the dot and done!

Years ago, I read an article on how to "bore sight" at close range=well enough to get on paper at 100 yards. Seems you sighted with ammo at 10 or 20 yards and then moved the target further our. Anybody remember the technique??
