I spent three nights backpacking trying out gear for tough trips. My pack had a light sleeping bag, a small stove, waterproof jacket, fishing flies and a comfy sleeping pad. My boots were sturdy enough for streams but still good on rocky slopes (which saved my knees). I ate dehydrated meals and snacks to keep my pack light. Anyway I learned that ultralight gear only works if it lasts...getting your pack dialed turns roughing it into a killer trip.
